Improvisers like to share, but we also like credit.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my blog and check out my site. It means a ton! As you’re reading, you may come across excerpts of posts and other content that would be valuable to include in your own works. I couldn’t be happier! Everything I’ve written on the site is copyrighted, so please adhere to the following and I’ll be very happy to have you sharing my stuff.

YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT

Want to quote me in your own blog, paper, or presentation? Please do! For specific passages of text under 40 words, all I ask is proper attribution as Matt Elwell, CPLP and a backlink if you’re working in digital. If you need a way to explain who I am in the context of the writing, a good blurb is “Matt Elwell, CPLP, an improv-based training practitioner…” If you want more than that, try my bio.

Where appropriate, please cite my blog in your references / bibliography. Here’s an APA example for my first post:

Elwell, M. (2019, July 7). Origin story [web log post]. Retrieved from https://www.mattelwell.com/blog/originstory

To practice what I preach, allow me to recommend Purdue University’s Online Writing Lab for all your “but how do I do that?” needs.

Need a quote longer than 40 words? Go ahead, but please e-mail me a link to the piece so I can keep track of it.

Please do not, however, republish in full any of my content. If you really like my stuff that much, please reach out. If time permits, I’d be happy to write a guest post or article for your site.

BE NICE

Please do not pass off my writing and ideas as your own. I’d love for you to quote me and then give your own spin on something I wrote, but please don’t post something of mine as if its yours.

Likewise, please let me know if anything I wrote here feels like your original work. Improv teachers pick a lot up from each other, but I do try to cite my sources. E-mail me with the page link for my content and the link for your own, and I’d be happy to compare.

And, of course, please don’t try to make money off my work. If you want to repurpose my content to be part of something you are going to charge money for, please e-mail me so we can work something out.

Speaking of practicing what I preach, I drew heavily on HubSpot’s Content Usage Guidelines to write this page. Thanks HubSpot!
